AA Meetings

Types of Meetings

  • Open = Available to anyone interested in Alcoholics Anonymous’ program of recovery from alcoholism. Non-alcoholics are welcome to attend open meetings as observers.
  • Closed = For A.A. members only, or for those who have a drinking problem and “have a desire to stop drinking.”
  • Women = Open to Women only.
  • Men = Open to Men only.
  • Young People = Are generally focused on meetings for younger attendance.
  • Speaker = Meeting where members share in greater detail for a longer period of time.

Court Cards

While most open meetings may sign court cards, some do not. It’s up to each individual meeting to decide. Since AA is not allied with the court system, AA is not required to do the court’s work. If you arrive at a meeting early, ask the secretary or leader if they will sign your card. If a meeting leader or secretary agrees to sign your court card, they will probably sign their first name or initials. We honor your and our anonymity. We are not court employees.

Closed meetings are for A.A. members only and generally do not sign court cards.

AA Listed Groups ®

If you see a ® (Registered) symbol next to a meeting name, it means that meeting is listed with GSO. You can find the Group ID in the "Notes" section of the Meeting Guide App—this ID is useful when your group makes contributions.

If you would like instructions on the process of listing your Group with GSO, email: registrar@area93district7.org

AA with a IGR *

If you see a * (asterisk) symbol next to a meeting name, it means that meeting has an Intergroup Representive. You can find the IGR in the "Notes" section of the Meeting Guide App.
